What commencement on 1 July 2026 means

From 1 July 2026 your AML/CTF obligations are live. That means having an AML/CTF program in place, verifying your customers, screening them, reporting when required, keeping records, and having appointed a compliance officer. The obligations apply from the day you first provide a designated service.

Enrol vs register

Tranche 2 professionals enrol with AUSTRAC. Registration is a separate, additional step only for remittance and digital-currency-exchange providers. Most newly regulated real estate agents, accountants, lawyers, conveyancers and jewellers only need to enrol.

What to do now

  1. Confirm whether you provide a designated service and are in scope.
  2. Build your AML/CTF program from AUSTRAC's starter kit for your sector.
  3. Appoint a compliance officer and enrol with AUSTRAC by your deadline.

Senly AML runs AUSTRAC's starter kit for your sector, so you can be ready before the deadline without hiring a compliance team.
